At the start of my college career, I went to Drexel University for a year for Digital Media , and then transferred to the University of Pennsylvania also for Digital Media Design. I ultimately decided to transfer into Communications because it let me concentrate on the classes I wanted without being bogged down with unnecessary requirements. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, and minors in both Fine Arts and Computer Science (concentrating on Digital Media).
As a whole, I enjoy working on everything from web pages to projects that involve sanding wood. New mediums are challenging and exciting, and I jump at the chance to work with something new. More often than not, I'm in the middle of at least 3 different projects at any one time, and all of them are completely different! So I thought that I want to take my creativity and apply it to a full time job.
Unfortunately creativity and computer science don't always mix - or not as obviously as say history and writing. For me it was very much one or the other at the time I was job hunting. After some serious soul searching, I decided to take up a full time offer at Microsoft Corporation, which had been my dream since I got my first 386 computer at the age of 7. While my current group is not creative in the way I know creativity, it challenges me to solve problems in new ways and take up a leadership role that will prove useful in all my years to come.
I have no plans to leave Microsoft anytime soon! However, once I have done all that I can do in my current group, I would love a chance to work in a more user-interface-friendly and consumer-oriented group.
Also seeing as how I am from NY, I would perhaps like a chance one day to go back to the East Coast. Consulting perhaps? Who knows. It's too early for me to plan that!
